These are some of the frequently asked questions and a quick answer. If you need more clarification or have a new question, please contact us to let us know.
We have an annual membership fee of $35.00. This fee is applied towards our end of the season banquet for awards/prizes. We also have a $15.00 entry fee for each tournament. You can also enter optional side pots for things like big fish, big small mouth, etc.
The points you earn are based on the place you finish: 1st place wil get 30 points, 2nd gets 29 points, 3rd gets 28 points, Etc.
You can also get 2 bonus points for catching the largest bass of the tournament and 1 point for the 2nd largest.
If you show up to a tournament and dont catch a fish you will be awarded 5 show up points.
At the end of the year, your 3 worst performances will be thrown out, but you will still retain the 5 show up points for each. It pays to show up for as many tournaments as you can, but if you have to miss a few you can still be in the running!
We allow for "Non-Boaters" to compete as if you had your own boat. Please take a look at the tab marked "Non-Boaters" and read the article about what to expect as a non-boater. Remember all you need a rod and some tackle to catch a fish. Before you go out and start to build your tackle collection, you could learn more about what is important from some of our seasoned anglers and avoid wasting money on stuff you might never use.
As long as you wish. The natural progression of most anglers is to eventually take the next step and get a boat so you can start to make some of your own decisions. Even if you have a boat now but you don't feel confident in your own skills or on a certain fishery, you can still choose to fish from the back seat with a more seasoned angler.
The purpose of the club is to promote the sharing of information to help your fellow anglers. Even though there can be some big payouts (a few around $1,000.00 just this year) with the side pots that can accumulate over time, the main payout structure was made so that it wasn't "all about the money". We really want people to help one another...
The first step is to come to a meeting. Our meetings are held on the Tuesday before every tournament. We have sign-ups for the tournament from 6pm to 6:55pm and the meeting will start promptly at 7pm. Any new prospective member is allowed to fish in one tournament as a guest without having to pay the annual dues. Each new member will be subject to a 3 month probation period and then there will be a vote by the existing members before they are allowed to officially join as a member.
Our first tournament of the season will be in May at Trinity Lake. We have 12 regular season tournaments that will accumulate points towards the Angler of the Year points race. At the end of the season there is a Top Ten Tournament of Champions(TOC) at Lake Shasta for additional prizes. There is also a Top Twenty TOC at Whiskeytown, where the anglers that finished 11th- 20th get paired with the top ten (#20 gets to fish with #1, #19 gets to fish with #2, Etc.)and compete as a team.
